Prof. Cristina Giurdanella
Professor Cristina Giurdanella was born in Zehlendorf, Berlin. She manages ICOTEA’s training courses. In Germany, she received her degree in German language and literature after attending secondary school for business studies in Modica.
She has an equal passion for German language and tourism; she also worked as a tourist assistant in different hotels in Ragusa, Syracuse and Catania.
She is a certified tour guide for German tourists who visit UNESCO sites. She gave lessons of German language to students of the linguistic secondary school in Modica.
ICOTEA selected her as a German language assistant thanks to her double passion: teaching German to Italian students and tourists, showing them the amazing Reichstag, Postdamer Platz, Brandeburg gate or Museuminsel, and conversely teaching Italian to German tourists and students, fascinating them with the baroque style of Modica and Scicli, the sea of Marina di Modica, the history of Ragusa Ibla, Ispica and Noto.
She loves sea and for this reason she lives in Sicily, in Marina di Modica. She added Verga, Tomasi di Lampedusa, Sciascia, D’Arrigo and Camilleri to her readings of Goethe, Kleist, Fontane, Hasuptman, Grass and Mann.
The history of Berlin, city-state, is known for its uniqueness and importance in the world, while Sicily has a multitude of histories due to its different dominations. In this land, Cristina Giurdanella asserts you can feel on your skin the ways in which the light hits the stone because these are places related to soul.
Professor Giurdanella is an interpreter of the soul of this land, even through her love for German language and her job. She manages ICOTEA’s training courses.
