In New York, aboard a special vehicle

CLIL stands for Content and Language Integrated Learning, integrated learning of disciplinary content in a vehicular foreign language.

The CLIL methodology is one of the contents of greater reforming value in the Italian High School: the linguistic competence in a foreign language is considered a key tool for the improvement of school performance, and there is an adaptation to the age of the students, the task, the context, the skills to be developed, all through personalized educational paths.

ICOTEA, a Training Institute in the school sector, authorized by MIUR (Ministry of Education, University and Research) by Decree no. AOODGPER: 6833 of 19/09/2012, offers a “Specialization Course on CLIL methodology 1500 hours – 60 ECT – duration 12 months” and also addresses Italians who live abroad, in this case in New York and who are engaged in various jobs.

The option of the vehicular language can concern both Italian and English.

In the first case, through learning in Italian, non-linguistic content can be assimilated and to be spent either in diplomatic activities at the offices of the Italian embassy or in cultural promotion tasks, such as those carried out at the Italian Cultural Institutes or foundations similar to them.

In New York, a field in which the knowledge and use of Italian are indispensable for many young people is that of the tourist agencies run by Italians. In particular, we are talking about those that are proliferating in number and that constitute a network of very young start-ups committed to making known the realities and potential of the Big Apple, not the glossy one of the movies or the one that can be found in tourist guides, but the lesser-known but very fascinating New York. But in this area, the services go as far as proposing the accompaniment for the entire United States.

If the language used is English, Italians abroad will be able to use it to learn job-related content, especially if they are workers in Italian companies working in the United States.

In the marketing activities of Italian products in the U.S., the assimilation in English of content regarding the export of products from our food repertoire and wine, olive oil, or our industrial and craft sectors could not be more advantageous than what the Icotea Specialized Course offers.

The course is available completely online and benefits from a Training Voucher Financed by the European Union which considerably reduces the investment.

A museum on the history of Italian-Americans has also been opened in New York: a place where history has been transformed into epic. The epic of the Italians who left with their ships and landed in a land that would offer them unimaginable opportunities for social redemption and economic well-being.

Icotea has always paid attention to these implications. To make the epic continues, it prepares very useful tools such as the Specialized Course in CLIL Methodologies.
