In this section you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about our training courses.

ICOTEA is a Ministerial Training Institute authorised by MIUR (Ministry of Education, Universities and Research) for both training courses and the Bachelor’s degree in Science of Linguistic Mediation.

  • Accredited by the Ministry of Justice as a Training Body for Mediators/Conciliators and a Conciliation Body.
  • Authorised by the Ministry of Health as Provider n. 4182 for CME training – Continuing Medical Education.
  • Icotea has been authorised by the Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport to hold professional training courses for the transport of goods on behalf of third parties – Ministerial Decree 198/91 art. 7 paragraph 2.
  • GATEHOUSE / TELC/ Herzen University St. Petersburg for English/German/Russian language certifications.
  • In addition, professional training credits are recognised for the freelance professions: Engineer, Geologist, Lawyers, Accountants, Employment Consultanta, Social Assistants, Notaries, Agronomist etc… Therefore, the certificates issued have legal value both in Italy and abroad. They are also valid for public competitions, career advancement, school rankings, CME/training credits for the health professions. Recognition of exemption from service, within the limits set by current legislation, by the Public Administration which recognises ICOTEA as an accredited and qualified training provider.

Over the years, ICOTEA has obtained many other ACCREDITATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS which have enabled it to considerably expand its training offer.

Courses provided in E-learning mode:

  • Within 24 hours since enrollment, you will be notified of the registration procedure and access key to access the ICOTEA e-learning platform where you will find all the lectures and exams of your training course.
  • To enroll on the platform you must click on “E-LEARNING”: icotea.it – located on the site uni.icotea.it at the top right of the home page. Here you will be asked to insert: username, password and enable your biometric facial recognition.
  • Biometric facial recognition is an automatic system that checks that you are taking classes. To enable it, you will be asked to take a photo of yourself through the webcam on your PC or camera on the device you are connecting from. For the photo we recommend that you frame your face totally, without covering it with hands, hair, headphones or anything else.
  • The lectures are consequential. To continue with the training course, the student is required to follow the lectures by demonstrating his presence in front of the screen of their device. In this way they will be able to access the various intermediate and final exams.
  • You will have the support of a tutor who will follow you during your training course, responding within 24 hours to any questions or requests, which will be sent to the e-mail address icotea@icotea.it.

Conducting Lessons in the CLASSROOM:

Lessons can be attended at our locations in:

  • MILAN: Via Mecenate n. 105 floor VI;
  • ROME (Trastevere): Via Federico Rosazza n. 26 floor I;
  • MODICA: Via Sorda Sampieri n. 128;

Exams provided in E-learning mode:

Final exams consist of a series of multiple-choice tests and an oral exam:

  • You will be asked to complete a multiple-choice test via Icotea’s e-learning platform.
  • This will be followed by an oral exam, administered by your course instructor, via ZOOM platform (you will be sent guidelines to dowloand ZOOM before the exam date).

The questions asked by the teacher will cover the topics included in the study plan of your training course.

After receiving on your email the positive result of the final exam (non-intermediate), you will be able to download and print the end-of-course certificate directly under “my certificates” on your profile in the icotea.it platform. The end-of-course certificate can be downloaded and printed only after:

  • the successful passing of the final exam;
  • the verification of the attendance recorded on the login report;
  • the completion of the course
  • verification of the regularity of payments to ICOTEA training courses/services.

Exams provided in E-learning mode:

Conducting Examination in the CLASSROOM:

You will be asked to take the final exam at your chosen location. The possible modes of examination are as follows:

  • multiple-choice tests
  • practice tests
  • simulations
  • case histories
  • group work
  • listening tests
  • written and oral comprehension tests

It will be followed by the oral examination, given by the course instructor, who will ask you questions pertaining the study plan of the course. After successfully passing the final exams, Icotea staff will issue you with a final certificate. This will be done following verification of the attendance record, past the period of the duration of the course and regularity of payments to ICOTEA training courses/services.

E-Learning/Distance: The Final Certificate and corresponding certification of the topics can be downloaded from the E-Learning platform at the top of the page of the training course you have enrolled in, after passing the written and oral exams, paying the balance and after the period of the duration of the training course has passed.

Those enrolled in E-Learning mode by 30/09/2018:

  • the final exam consists of the writing of a final thesis to be written in word or pdf format, to be sent to our email address tutor@icotea.it ;
  • at the end of the training course, ICOTEA will check the “Access Reports”, in case of a negative outcome, it will send an email reminding the required fulfilment;
  • the final certificate and corresponding certification of the topics can be downloaded from the e-learning platform at the top of the page of the training course in which you have enrolled, after you have submitted your final thesis, paid the balance and completed the period of the course.

Those enrolled in E-Learning mode from 01/10/2018:

  • The final exams consist of a series of multiple choice tests and an oral examination.
  • The teacher, upon completion of the examination, will proceed to the oral examination through the ZOOM platform (before the examination date you will be sent a guideline to register in ZOOM). The questions asked by the teacher will focus on the topics of the training plan studied by the candidate.
  • After passing the final exams, ICOTEA will also check the “Access Reports”, and will only issue the final certificate if the lessons have been downloaded and the written exam (multiple choice test) and oral exam have been passed.
  • The final certificate can be downloaded from the e-learning platform at the top of the page of the training course you have enrolled in, after you have taken and passed the final test and oral examination, paid the balance and spent the period of the duration of the training course.

In the classroom:

  • After passing the final exams Icotea staff will issue you with the Final Course Certificate.

For the courses provided by ICOTEA, it is possible to obtain recognition of exemption from public and private administrations, with permits for the right to study amounting to 150 hours per year, within the limits set by the regulations in force.

On 01/08/2016 n. 317, ICOTEA was accredited by MIUR regarding the training platform called S.O.F.I.A. – operating system for teacher training and refresher courses.

The Training Voucher is a financial facility that ICOTEA makes available to trainees to cover part of the total cost of training courses.

What are University Educational Credits – ECTS?

ECTS are the European equivalent measure system of the Italian CFUs. The CFU credits are a method used in Italian universities to measure the workload required of a student. This system was introduced by the university reform D.M. 03/11/1999 n. 509. Each university examination is associated with a certain number of CFUs, which estimate the commitment required; conventionally, 1 CFU is equal to 25 hours of study. In particular, by Ministerial Decree no. 38 of 10/01/2012, to obtain a qualification fully equivalent to the Degree in Science of Language Mediation, students must obtain 180 credits, divided into exams within the three-year curriculum. The really interesting aspect for those who want to enrol in this degree course is that thanks to the recognition of university credits, the result of previous university careers, concluded or suspended, and work experience related to the world of language mediation, it is possible to reuse several ECTS and graduate in a shorter time.

There is no recognition of previously acquired ECTS, except for the degree course in Science of Language Mediation. CFUs and Single Courses: To acquire any missing ECTS in a given disciplinary sector, the subjects envisaged in the study plans of the Course may be included as single courses. The ECTS obtained are certified and valid according to the regulations in force. Students enrolled at other University Institutions, AFAM Institutions and Fine Arts Academies may enrol in single courses as far as permitted by the institutions they belong to.

What is CME – Continuing Medical Education?

The CME system (Continuing Medical Education) includes the organised and controlled set of all training activities to keep the professionalism of health professionals high and up-to-date. CME credits are a measure of the commitment and time that each healthcare worker has devoted annually to training or updating the quality level of their professionalism.

ICOTEA is CME Provider no. 4182: ICOTEA has been accredited by the Ministry of Health as Provider no. 4182 for CME training – Continuing Medical Education. Icotea is therefore authorised to provide training for healthcare professionals and to issue certification of training credits to its trainees.

What are Professional Training Credits – PTC?

In 2013 ICOTEA opened its doors to Professional Training, dedicating an area for the updating of freelance professionals. Immediately after the compulsory nature of Ongoing Training for members of their respective professional bodies came into force in January 2014, in the same year ICOTEA obtained accreditation as CME Provider no. 4182 for the health professions. ICOTEA’s Ongoing Training accreditations: ICOTEA has been accredited and authorised as a provider of distance learning by several Orders, Professional Associations and Colleges. Below is the complete list: – Ministry of Health: CME Provider n. 4182; National Forensic Council; National Council of Social Assistants; National Council of Notaries; National Council of Chartered Accountants; National Council of Employment Consultants; National Council of Engineers; National Council of Industrial Technicians; National Council of Surveyors and Graduate Surveyors; National Council of Architects; National Council of Geologists; National Council of Chartered Agronomists and Foresters; ICOTEA is currently the Training Institute with the largest number of training proposals in the field of Ongoing Training for freelancers. For this reason, at the end of its Ongoing Training courses, ICOTEA issues qualifications which are valid in Italy and abroad, guaranteeing the achievement of the Professional Training Credits (PTC) required by the regulations.

  • Installment payments at no additional cost: Once you’ve paid the application fee/deposit, you can pay the remaining amount in installments at no additional cost depending on your needs. For example: if the investment for the Master Course amounts to € 649.00, you can deposit € 249.00 at the beginning and pay the remaining amount at the end of the course at no extra charge.

  • Teacher Card: ICOTEA is a ministerial educational institution recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education according to the Directive No. 170/16 (Dealer code: ZAIXV). Therefore, teacher can sign up for our training courses using their Teacher Card.
  • VAT-free: As a university institute, ICOTEA has been identified through the Ateco code 85.42 by the Chamber of Commerce. This means the courses offered by ICOTEA are VAT-free and our students can write off a bigger amount on their taxes than the students from other institutions/non-university organizations.

Icotea, as a University Institute, has the ateco code 85.42, assigned by the C.C.I.A.A..

Therefore, the training courses provided by Icotea are exempt from VAT. So our trainees can deduct a higher percentage for tax purposes than other Institutes/Bodies. As of 01/01/2019, electronic invoicing has come into force. Trainees who register for our training courses and make a payment will automatically receive an invoice by email. If you have a unique code or a registered e-mail address, you will have to enter it in the registration order.

The Customer who qualifies as a consumer or user under Art. 3, § 1, letter a) of Legislative Decree no. 206 of 6 September 2005 and subsequent amendments and additions (Consumer Code) has the right to withdraw from the contract, without giving reasons, within 14 days from the date of registration.

In order to exercise the right of withdrawal, the Customer must inform ICOTEA Via XX Settembre n. 16, 97014 Ispica (RG) of his/her decision to withdraw from the contract by means of an explicit declaration.

Users enrolled in our training courses who, for whatever reason, request suspension/cancellation, are in any case required to pay their fees in full.
